Psychotherapy is primarily a talk-based therapy and is intended to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being. This Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) works with individuals, couples and families. A strong therapeutic alliance is essential (and sacred!) for encouraging positive change in the client’s thinking, feeling, behaviour and social functioning. Individuals usually seek psychotherapy when they have thoughts, feelings, moods and behaviours that are negatively impacting their lives, relationships and their ability to enjoy, and find meaning in, their life.

Jacqueline Schryer (you can call me Jackie :) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the Canadian Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Jackie just completed her Master’s of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University, earned a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University (2003) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honours) from Trent University in 2002.

With almost 20 years of experience in Education (as a teacher and now administrator), Jackie has worked with youth and their families in a variety of settings from Nunavik, Quebec to Lindsay, Ontario. Jackie’s client-centered approach posits that the client knows what is best for them; while her role is to support them by using a caring ear and offering a variety of strategies and techniques to build up their skill-set in hopes of improving their overall quality of life. Jackie sees value in using an eclectic therapeutic approach based on a variety of modalities such as: solution-focused, cognitive behavioural, dialectical behavioural, acceptance and commitment therapies, just to name a few. She is both genuine and non-judgmental, while valuing the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship to facilitate the change process in her clients. Jackie looks forward to supporting clients with their grief and loss, dysfunctional relationships, traumatic experience(s), and/or other mental health challenges that are stopping her clients from living their best life.
